Scream for me Washington ! Iron Maiden + Alice Cooper Concert Review 06/30/12

After an extremely hot day in Bristow, Virginia, all the metal heads couldn’t have asked for a better ending of the night when Iron Maiden mixed Fire and Ice, summoning the Maiden England tour of 1988 that recreated the concept of the Album Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.

Alice Cooper kicked off the show at 7:30 lifted in a mobile stair dressed as a spider when he started his set list with Black Widow. His performance was outstanding showing the Metal fans of the DC Area the perfect formula of theatrics and rock. Everything you expect from an Alice show was served. Slaughtering of puppets, Alice’s Snake on his neck, The guillotine, Frankenstein, all of his outfits , and everything that make Alice Cooper an Icon in the Metal world.

Alice Cooper Set-List:

The Black Widow
Brutal Planet
I’m Eighteen
No More Mr. Nice Guy
Hey Stoopid
Guitar Solo
Billion Dollar Babies
Feed My Frankenstein
Poison
Wicked Young Man
I Love the Dead
School’s Out (Another Brick in the Wall)

Once Alice Cooper left the stage, the fans where ready to welcome the British Metal Gods. Once the UFO song Doctor Doctor came out of the speakers of the Jiffy Lube Live arena, all the fans stood up and waited for the Main Event to kick off. On the side screen you could see images of the Arctic seas which helped a lot on that hot Saturday. The  streaming of the acoustic guitars sounded as Bruce Dickinson’s Voice in the background sang “Seven deadly sins, seven ways to win, seven holy paths to hell and your trip begins. Seven downward slopes, seven bloodied hopes, seven are your burning fires, seven your desires…” and the band came out to perform uninterruptedly Moonchild, Can I Play With Madness, The Prisoner, and 2 Minutes to Midnight.

Later Bruce started to talk to the audience, recalling that since they are in Washington DC they had a little surprise for us, and introduced the song “Afraid to shoot Strangers” making a reference of his Anti-War points of view.

then the band continued their set list bringing out songs from their golden years collection. Including the Epic Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.

The stage was amazing, giving Bruce all the space he need to run, jump, and do all what he loves to do on a concert. it is unbelievable, at 53 years of age have all that energy he always gives to the audience… And Eddie, yes he came out, dressed as with the Horseback War Uniform, fought with his sword against Janick’s Guitar, walked and left. Later on the Song Seventh Son of a Seventh Son a Huge Eddie appeared in the back and that eddie later changed to the Eddie that is in the Seventh Son’s Album Cover.

Believe me, if you get a chance to see this show, DO IT. As always, Iron Maiden will satisfy your Metal hearts.
